Alabaster (now snowman)

“I am just writing to let you know how Snowman is going.
I picked him up on Friday and we immediately headed for his new home in Adelaide. He was very calm during the 10 hour road trip and didn’t seem distressed. On arrival we set him up in the laundry for the night. As expected he was very timid and preferred the laundry for the first couple of days. However over the past week he has progressively explored and taken command of areas of the house. His favourite thing is to hide under the dining table on the seat of one of the chairs. He is getting quite confident with both of his new humans and is happy to snuggle on the couch with us. He is very affectionate and sociable, although not fond of a stranger in the house.
One concern is that he seems to be very food focussed and we noted that he put on weight in the first week. Although he is a healthy weight, we are now implementing a daily diet plan and routines to try and ensure he has more structure and doesn’t get overweight. Like all one year olds Snowman is very playful, chasing his own tail and his new toys, so at least he’s getting exercise. He exhausts himself and sleeps a lot.
Snowman’s vocabulary is expanding and he now knows his new name and the words Up (to join us on a sofa or a bed), Dinner and most importantly, No. He is a bit naughty sometimes (jumping up on kitchen bench, scratching or running up the screen door), but heeds a stern voice calmly saying ‘No’ and is thankfully taking to his new cat scratching tree. He is already onto his second collar as he kept removing the safe release one and he has even managed to get his new buckle collar off too.
We think he is adjusting fine and we are also adapting to a 1 year old cat after living with his 15 year old predecessor. Thankyou for the care you gave him and the opportunity for this new life.”
