Our wonderful vets
You may not know this, but as a smaller shelter, here at Blue Cross Animals Society of Victoria we don’t have a veterinary clinic on site! Instead, we work with a local vet clinic that we have been partnered with for over ten years.
North Croydon Veterinary Clinic
Located just 5 minutes from us in Croydon North. At the time when we began our partnership with the clinic, it was owned by a lovely man named Dr. Mark Andrews.
Dr. Mark was an incredibly dedicated and compassionate man who initially volunteered his time and expertise to care for our animals on his days off. Every Thursday, Dr. Mark would make his way to the shelter and would perform general health checks and vaccinations for each new animal that had entered the shelter, much to our utmost appreciation. What a guy!
Of course, over time it became clear that this partnership would become an enduring and important one for Blue Cross, and we insisted that Dr. Mark be paid for his invaluable work with our animals.
For more than a decade, Dr. Mark devoted his valuable time, expertise, and unwavering support, going above and beyond what was expected to help us help at risk animals in our care when they needed it.
Mark sadly passed late last year, and his kind smile and compassion is missed by many – two and four-legged both. He simply was one of the kindest, most generous humans we were lucky enough to work with over this time.
Dr. Rebecca, Dr. Carly and Dr. Jess!
North Croydon Vet Clinic has now been lovingly passed on to Mark’s colleagues and friends Dr. Rebecca, Dr. Carly and Dr. Jess!
Dr. Jess has been working at the clinic for five years and is most interested in accident and emergency work as well as medicine, Dr. Carly has also been working at North Croydon for five years and loves interesting surgeries like foreign body removals and spleen removals (sounds exciting, doesn’t it?), and Dr. Rebecca has been at the clinic for two years and enjoys performing dentals and airway surgery on short-snouted dogs.
All three vets played integral roles in the treatment of our beautiful Ralph, as well as their wonderful team of vet nurses Georgie, Chyanne, Julie, Sarnia, Charlee and Matilda.
Ralph and the North Croydon Veterinary Clinic team
“Ralph was a very special boy who was adored by everyone. His cheeky antics will definitely be missed, along with his goofy smile and adorable ears. We will always remember Ralph and the happiness and joy he gave us. We loved him so much!”
We couldn’t be more thankful for the North Croydon team, and in particular Dr. Carly who had the difficult task of performing Ralph’s surgery, and Nurse Chyanne for giving him all the love during his many visits to the vet.
The North Croydon Veterinary Clinic team truly are heroes, helping Blue Cross to care so well for our many animals. They regularly commit to extra support and hours to help us deal with emergencies, take animals home when they need a bit of extra TLC (including Twinkie and Jax) and stick with us through the toughest of cases.
We couldn’t possibly do the work we do without them. Without Dr. Carly, Dr. Jess and Dr. Rebecca and their exceptional team, animals like Ralph, Twinkie, Archer and even our oldies Ollie and Jax would continue to go unheard.
We are so grateful for those who have already donated to our Spring Appeal raising money for Ralph’s Legacy Fund, to help us help provide the treatment for animals like Ralph who need us to support them on their journey to finding a forever home.
If you can, please donate to Ralph’s Legacy today, so that we are able to continue working as a strong and impactful team creating positive and joyful outcomes for animals in our care.
