Layla

Poor Layla was surrendered to the pound due to her elderly owner no longer being able to care for her. She is understandably finding it difficult to adjust to such a big change, and is quite stressed and unsettled in the shelter. She would love to be able to find herself a relaxing home with no other animals so she can enjoy her golden years feeling pampered and stress-free.

Layla had unfortunately torn her cruciate ligament before coming into our care and will need surgery to repair the injury. We will be paying for Layla to have this procedure at our vet clinic, but due to her stress levels here, we do not think it would be in her best interest to go through her recovery at the shelter.

We are hoping to find Layla’s new family as soon as possible so that she can recover in the much more familiar environment of a home, and receive the care that she will need.

The recovery period for this type of surgery is generally 6 to 8 weeks of very restricted movement, while very slowly building back up to normal activity and movement levels. We intend to do a foster-to-adopt for this time period so that Layla can recover in a home environment, while her new owners can receive as much support from us as they need.
