Scooby

Scooby is a handsome Labrador looking for a very special home where he can finally relax, feel safe, and leave shelter life behind him. Sadly, Scooby is finding the shelter environment extremely stressful, and we would love to see him settled into his forever home as soon as possible.

Scooby came to us from another shelter, so we don’t know much about his past. What we do know is that he is not your typical easy-going Labrador and he’s looking for that special home.

Scooby forms strong bonds with his people and has so much love and companionship to offer, but he needs an experienced owner who understands his unique needs and is willing to give him the calm, structured lifestyle he thrives in.

Scooby must be the only pet in the home, as he does show significant reactivity to other dogs. This will require ongoing training. Under the guidance of a skilled trainer, Scooby has been making positive progress with the use of a vibration collar, and this is important to be ongoing for his continued success.

Because of this, he is not suited to dog parks, busy suburban walks, or areas where he will regularly encounter other dogs. He would do best on a large property, small acreage, or farm with very low foot and car traffic, where his environment can stay calm and predictable.

He is also very strong on lead and will need a confident, capable owner who can continue working on his lead manners and ongoing training. Scooby is crate trained and sees his crate as a safe, comforting space.

Scooby is best suited to a home with children over 13 years old and someone who is home often to help him feel secure and settled.

A couple of visits may be required to ensure Scooby and his new family are set up for a successful transition.

For the right person, Scooby will be an incredibly loyal and loving companion who just needs understanding, patience, and the right environment to truly shine.
