At Blue Cross, we try our best to make each animal’s shelter experience as enriching as possible, but sometimes we need a bit of extra support.
As a not-for-profit organization, we receive no government funding. The work we do here at Blue Cross relies solely on the generosity of our dedicated community lending their support to our programs that are designed to help us make the shelter a better place for all animals.
SPONSOR A SHELTER ANIMAL TODAY
Guardian Angel Sponsorship Program!
By sponsoring a dog kennel or cat pen, you are saving the lives of abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats, providing year-round care, ensuring they are safe, their bellies are kept full & their lives are enriched until forever homes are found. Kennel/Pen sponsorships are available for 3-month, 6-month or one-year periods. Your sponsorship can be dedicated to an individual, family member or business, a gift for a special occasion, or a memorial for a loved one or a beloved pet.
A Guardian Angel card will be placed on the kennel or pen for the period you select. We can also include a photo that you provide.
If you wish to sponsor a pen or kennel as a gift to another, we will be happy to send a card acknowledging your gift.
Ralphs Legacy – Medical Treatment Fund
Ralph touched everybody’s hearts during his stay with us, and it felt only natural to name our medical treatment fund for vulnerable animals in honour of his memory. He simply was an outstanding fella! Ralph came to us in such a state and through it all he was such a champion. Ralph’s Legacy lies at the heart of what we do at Blue Cross.

Twinkie – Hard to adopt to adopted.
Twinkie is another great example of animals that find themselves without a home and require a bit of extra care before they can begin to search for their forever homes. Twinkie was born in the home of one of our dedicated carers and after falling behind all of her siblings in many ways, we discovered that she had in fact acquired Dwarfism as a result of an overactive thyroid gland. This little girl needs ongoing development checks before we can confidently adopt her to a loving home, and she will require lifelong medication.
